Nick had reached a point where he wasn’t happy with how he was feeling.
Waking up in the morning, he felt much older than he thought he should — and knew something needed to change.
Looking back now, there’s only one thing he regrets:
Not starting sooner.
The Challenge
For Nick, it wasn’t about chasing a dramatic transformation.
It was about how he felt day to day.
He was disappointed that he was waking up feeling older than his years and knew he wanted to start looking after his fitness properly.
But simply going to the gym alone wasn’t giving him the same structure, guidance or results.
He needed something that would help him:
- Exercise effectively
- Improve his technique
- Push himself at the right level
- Stay interested and engaged
- Know he was training safely
Why He Nearly Didn’t Start
Like so many people, Nick wishes he’d made his fitness a priority much earlier.
He even says he should have started in his 20s.
But the important thing was deciding to start now, rather than continuing to put it off.
And once he joined We Are Group X, he quickly realised just how much of a difference the right coaching could make.
The Turning Point
For Nick, one of the biggest differences has been the quality of the sessions and the support from the coaches.
They’re there to help with technique, make sure he’s performing exercises correctly and encourage him to use weights that challenge him without putting him at unnecessary risk.
The sessions are varied too, meaning he’s continually challenged without getting bored.
In fact, Nick believes he gets more from one Group X session than three or four sessions training by himself in the gym.
The Results
Since joining Group X, Nick has:
Found a much more effective way to train
Improved his exercise technique
Learned how to challenge himself with the right weights
Gained confidence that he’s exercising correctly
Found sessions that keep him interested and motivated
Benefited from expert coaching and support
Become part of a great fitness community
Most importantly, he’s doing something positive about the way he feels — rather than wishing he’d started years ago.
Here’s what he had to say:
“I would just regret not doing it earlier, really. That’s the main thing. For me, one session down at Group X is worth three or four in the gym by myself. They mix it up so you’re never bored, they make sure you’re doing the right reps and pushing yourself to the right weights without ever endangering yourself.”
What This Means for You
It’s easy to look back and think you should have started exercising five, ten or even twenty years ago.
But you can’t change when you started — you can only decide when you’re going to start.
With the right coaching, you don’t have to figure everything out for yourself. You can learn the correct technique, challenge yourself safely and get more from the time you spend exercising.
Nick’s advice is simple:
Don’t wait until you’re wishing you’d started sooner.
